Before You Travel
The essentials before you book a flight.

Safety depends on your exact route and the latest
official advice—not a blanket yes or no. Egypt’s
principal tourist destinations welcome international
visitors, but government advisories distinguish between
regions and can change at short notice.
Check the advisory issued for your nationality, make sure
your insurance covers the activities and places in your
itinerary, and follow local authorities and your official
guide. Remote desert areas have limited phone reception and
medical facilities, so professional arrangements matter.
Visa requirements depend on your nationality and
passport. Citizens of many countries can apply
through Egypt’s official e-Visa portal; other travelers may
need to contact an Egyptian embassy or consulate before
departure.
The official portal lists a passport valid for at least six
months from arrival, an e-Visa printout, a travel itinerary
and accommodation or places-to-visit details among arrival
requirements. Check the rule for your own passport before
booking. Zizo Safari Egypt does not issue visas.
For sightseeing and desert travel, November to
April is a useful starting point because the official
tourism guide describes it as Egypt’s moderate winter
season. Your ideal month still depends on the route,
activities and temperatures you personally enjoy.
Cairo, Bahariya, Siwa, Fayoum, Luxor and the Red Sea do not
all feel the same at the same time of year. If your plan
includes camping, ask Zizo about daytime heat, overnight
temperatures and the right layers for your dates.
Pack light, loose clothing, comfortable walking
shoes and reliable sun protection. A hat,
sunglasses, sunscreen and a scarf or light cardigan are
useful; religious sites generally require shoulders and
legs to be covered.
For a desert safari, add a warmer layer for the evening, a
small daypack, torch and power bank. Ask what camping
equipment is included in your confirmed program so you do
not carry unnecessary duplicates.
Seven to ten days is a practical starting point for
Cairo plus one or two additional experiences—not for seeing
all of Egypt. A White Desert safari normally needs
its own two- or three-day block, while Siwa works better
when the long road journey is given enough time.
The right answer depends on arrival and departure times,
pace, interests and how many long transfers you are
comfortable with. Zizo can help you remove places rather
than rush everything into one itinerary.
Suggested pacing, not a fixed package.

White Desert & Safari
What to expect beyond the paved road.
04 answers
Most Zizo Safari White Desert programs begin with
an early pickup from a Cairo or Giza hotel and a road
transfer of roughly four hours to Bahariya Oasis.
After lunch, the desert portion continues in a 4x4 vehicle
suited to the safari route.
Exact pickup time, hotel area, luggage plan and return
timing are confirmed for your specific trip. Airport pickup
or another starting point may be possible when requested in
advance and included in the written arrangement.
Typical multi-day programs include the agreed Cairo
transfers, 4x4 safari, meals during the trip, mineral
water, Bedouin tea, camping equipment, an English-speaking
guide and listed activities such as sandboarding.
Inclusions differ by route, duration, group size,
accommodation and season. Always rely on the written
quotation and confirmed itinerary for your own booking;
flights, personal expenses and services not listed should
not be assumed.
You do not need previous camping experience, but you
should expect a simple outdoor night rather than hotel
comfort. The experience normally includes a camp
setup, dinner, tea, a fire gathering and breakfast, surrounded
by the quiet landscapes of the desert.
Bedding, tent style, washing and toilet arrangements can
vary, so ask for the exact setup before confirming. Tell
Zizo about sleep, mobility or comfort concerns early; a
hotel-and-camping combination may suit some travelers
better than multiple camping nights.
Yes—official travel guidance states that tourists
entering Bahariya Oasis, Farafra, the White Desert and Black
Desert must arrange permits in advance and use an official
guide. These are remote areas with limited phone
reception and medical facilities.
The operator should confirm the route and required
permissions. Travelers should follow the official guide and
local authorities, and recheck their own government’s
advice shortly before departure.
Yes. Custom planning is central to the Zizo Safari
experience. You can discuss dates, starting point,
destinations, hotel-versus-camping preference, activity
level and the amount of time you want at each stop.
Some changes depend on road conditions, permits, safety,
season and availability, but the goal is to build a
realistic route around you—not force you into a fixed
timetable. Start through the
Customize Your Trip form.
Many journeys can work well for families and a wide
range of ages, but suitability depends on the exact route,
drive time, camping setup and activities. Share
every child’s age and any comfort or mobility needs before
confirming.
Children remain under the supervision of their parent or
responsible adult, and some safari activities or remote
areas may not suit every age. Zizo can suggest a shorter
route, more hotel nights or a gentler pace where practical.
See the Children’s Policy.
Tell Zizo before the trip, preferably when you first
inquire. Vegetarian food, allergies, young
children, celebrations, mobility considerations and other
needs should be discussed before the route and price are
confirmed.
Remote desert travel has practical limits and is not a
substitute for medical care. Zizo will explain what can be
arranged for the selected program and may recommend a
different route or accommodation mix when that is the safer
or more comfortable option.

Booking & Logistics
What happens before the wheels start moving.
03 answers
Cairo and Giza hotel pickup is the usual starting
arrangement for many White Desert and Fayoum programs.
Cairo International Airport, Bahariya Oasis or another city
may be possible depending on the itinerary and confirmed
transport cost.
Give the exact hotel, flight or meeting-point details before
travel. Your written confirmation should state pickup area,
approximate time, return destination and any private
transfer supplement.
An inquiry is not a confirmed booking. The
booking becomes confirmed only after Zizo Safari Egypt
confirms availability, the agreed services and any required
payment. Some programs need an advance payment when hotels,
vehicles or other services must be secured.
Cancellation and refund eligibility depends on timing, tour
type, third-party bookings and the conditions agreed for
your trip. Read the
Booking & Payment Policy
and
Cancellation & Refund Policy,
then keep your written confirmation.
Contact Zizo as soon as your travel window is
reasonably clear—especially for holidays, fixed hotel
standards, larger private groups or routes combining
several regions.
Short-notice requests may still be possible, but vehicle,
guide, hotel and permit availability cannot be assumed. You
do not need a perfect itinerary before contacting him; an
approximate month, trip length and group size are enough to
begin.

During Your Trip
Small details that make travel easier.

Arabic is Egypt’s official language, but English is
widely understood in major cities and established tourist
destinations. You do not need to learn Arabic
before visiting, though a few greetings are always
appreciated.
Zizo Safari programs include English-speaking guidance where
stated in the confirmed itinerary. If you need another
language, ask before booking so availability can be checked.
Personal photography is generally allowed in public
areas and at many visitor sites, but restrictions still
apply. Ask people before photographing them, never
photograph children, disable flash where required, and obey
signs and staff instructions.
Professional lighting, equipment that obstructs public
space, commercial filming and photography of security or
sovereign facilities may require permission or be
prohibited. Ask Zizo before flying a drone or planning
professional production equipment.
Contact Zizo or the confirmed local guide
immediately for trip-related problems, and tell your hotel
reception when relevant. Keep copies of your travel
documents and your insurance and embassy details accessible.
Egypt’s official tourism site lists the Ministry of Tourism
and Antiquities hotline as 19654 inside Egypt
and the tourism police as 126 for serious
matters. Use the appropriate emergency service for an
immediate emergency.
